This is the second version of the article, developed together with the participants of the project team corrected gross errors in the work of the crankcase ventilation of the engine to output the crankcase gases. So the crankcase ventilation system is needed to reduce harmful substances coming from the crankcase into the air. In the case certainly are a couple of petrol, water and oil vapour — all the blow-by gases. The accumulation of blow-by gas degrades the properties and composition of engine oil, it destroys the metal part of the engine in a Honda Civic when there are failures in the system, or the aggressive operation of the engine, the amount of vapor increases and the engine is covered with carbon deposits inside. Obvious fact of the failure being the reduction in capacity, increase in fuel consumption. Visually this can be seen as the carbon on throttle body, carbon deposits on the intake manifold.
Carbon in any form is a negative factor affecting the performance of the engine. Reduced diameter throttle body, this means less air will flow into the intake manifold. Carbon deposits on the intake manifold reduce its volume and hence the returns. Blockage of the channels respectively enter to the wrong mixture of air and starvation.

the

scheme of the crankcase ventilation system

The crankcase ventilation system Honda Civic, practically no different from most of cars with internal combustion engines. As the source air stream is used the inlet tract. A fresh stream of air gets into the cylinder head, next to the engine, the flow passes to the bottom of the engine to the crankcase, and displays a camera through the vent exhaust gases recycled into the intake manifold. Such a system is necessary for the processing of material that has a negative impact on the environment. Thats why it looped in the engine and not go after the cell vent to the outside.
As you understand this system except the outline of ventilation and the intake tract has two components, the camera breather performs the function of receiver heavy particles and the PCV valve (Positive Crankcase Ventilation) — the valve positive crankcase ventilation. The PCV necessary for the direction of traffic flow. Some illustrations for understanding of the terms.

the Problem of soot in the system

Where is the soot? Lets say the engine is new, and the primitive function of the filter performs the breather chamber. In which the oil settles and the gases leave the spacecraft relies through the PCV valve into the intake again to the engine. Everything is perfect, the heavy parts of the oil are separated and the rich gasoline stream is processed. But it is in the ideal case. First have the breather is polluted just to horrible condition, ventilation deteriorates. So perfect does not happen, then the blow-by gases still carry the oil, even after the breather. And the PCV valve starts to become dirty, and as a result it becomes clogged with oil, dirt, and so on. In the end, the circulation of gases is violated, depending on in what position the valve is \"stuck\" there will be certain consequences.

the
    the
  • PCV is always open, additional air leak past the throttle through the cylinder head — a more lean, causing the computer adding more fuel, increased consumption, not steady work Idling
  • the
  • PCV is always closed, the gases are accumulated in the engine, increased pressure in the crankcase, may increase the risk of \"squeezing\" of the crankshaft oil seals from the oil pressure. Crankcase gases go through the cylinder head back into the intake tract, the soot settles on the throttle, the intake manifold, and injectors eventually and comes to the pistons.

the solution to the problem of soot

The solution is simple, it is necessary to clean the PCV valve and the breather chamber. But it is suitable for urban traffic. If you continually push the accelerator pedal, then there inevitably will still be contamination of the intake manifold. The decision came from racing, where the main thing is performance, motorcycle oil catch installed more often than in cars. The oil catcher, oil separator, macrophomina, oil separator, Oil Catch Can\Tank these are different names for the same product, is capable of separating oil from crankcase gases. Ideally, they need two pieces, one on the inlet, the other near the PCV.

the oil catch Device and principle of operation

Bank-a container with two fittings, and filter selection for oil inside the banks, all this in any color. This is a primitive description of the device, which stands for 40-300 dollars. In addition to the cost is first necessary to describe the principle of operation. Installed in a section of hose from the cylinder head to the intake tract. At the inlet port blow-by gas is fed with a mixture of oil vapors, then once in the jar, this gas flow gets into the tricky structure of the obstacles.
In one case its just a metal wall, the type made cigarette lighters. This is the worst way though running.
the Second case is a filter foam, mesh, or metal sponge. This is a good way to filter, the oil will settle on the wire to drain down. Using the foam, but theres a problem of themselves passage of gases into the intake manifold. Cleaning of the oil catch will also be problematic.
The normal system oil catch, coil with metal filter. The flow hits the wall of Gaza, quickly find a way into the intake manifold, and heavy oil drops flow down and stay inside, in the closed part of the oil catch. It remains only to drain accumulated oil at the time, there are options when the oil back into the engine, thereby the engine oil does not go away almost completely.

Fuel filter as a cheap replacement

As a half-measure, the fuel filter (such as vases) may be used. A small price in $ 1-2 and availability. But such filter designed for gasoline and not on heavy oil. The filter will become clogged very quickly. Summary — the clogging of the channel of ventilation of crankcase gases, and their circulation and accumulation inside the engine in all its parts. This is especially noticeable at low temperatures. Further, loss of power, with a very large chance of not stable work of the engine, for example engine begins troit.
